Catholic Q&A
Is it necessary to believe in God? Even if we do not believe in God can’t we lead a life free of problems?
The issue here is whether it is possible for us to lead a life that is truly free of problems. Even people who seem happy on the surface may be living with hidden sufferings, and even in the case of those who take pride in being atheists, we often notice that they continue to seriously question the meaning of life and reveal a yearning for a hidden God. From the standpoint of Christianity we note that because God created each human being and has invited them so as to give them his own life, he has imbued each human heart with a desire for himself. Hence in order that human beings may know God, they need to grow up in a truly human way. I believe we can only find happiness when we grow up with an inclination towards God.
